In an incident, the sludge holding tank of an effluent treatment plant collapsed and the sludge from the tank buried alive 10 persons sleeping in the nearby building. The company operating the plant was asked to pay Rs 75 lakh compensation to the state government. Part of it will be used to pay to the families of victims and balance will be utilized for environment management in the area by pollution control board.
Reasons for tank collapse and company procedures to check for its integrity need to be investigated.

Saved my forehead because of helmet
Two days ago, in the evening I was going back to home on my two wheeler after office work. I saw an empty plastic water bottle ahead on the road. A bus overtaking me went near that bottle, and the bottle flew off and hit me on my forehead. I heard a loud sound, ringing in my ears. I escaped injury, as I was wearing a full helmet. Else, surely, I could have been distracted and might have fallen due to this sudden development.

Hyderabad Police IT Cell application HAWKEYE for citizens help
IT Cell of Hyderabad Police (India) brought out a mobile application HAWKEYE to help the citizens for woman safety, to report complaints, traffic violations of public, violations by police, for use as SOS, to know the status report on information provided, police contact numbers areawise, etc.
It is available in Google's Play store. Congratulations to all those involved right from idea to implementation. Effective monitoring and followup further will definitely bring down the crime rate.
The application empowers citizens to report violations leading to public participation in policing. I hope that Hyderabad Police will ensure confidentiality of contact numbers of those reporting violations.

While doing gas cutting on a car was not in use for more than 20 years, for salvaging some parts, presuming that the car tank would have been empty, led to vapor explosion. Property worth 25000 USD is damaged and there were no injuries.
The incident tells us that we should not take anything for granted and we should ensure before start of work that there are no hazards.
